They may be cast, rolled or forged - rings in ever growing numbers and ever larger sizes are used by growth industries such as wind turbines, offshore technology or shipyards for turrets, flanges, seals or bearings. Until now, this has come at the expense of high tool wear, enormous energy demand and immense loss of material - it was high time for an efficient cutting process to cut rings from blanks.
